Striped Shirt

I am a big fan of stripes, and there is nothing more classic and easy to wear than a striped shirt; Brigitte Bardot, James Dean, Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O. were all fans! I combined mine with another classic: flare jeans.  Below are some of my tips on how to wear a striped shirt:

  • Add a pair of jeans for a relaxed look: Striped shirt and a pair of jeans is a timeless combination that never goes out of style. I like to wear my striped shirt with ripped jeans for a more casual look or a pair of flare jeans (like I did on the photos below).

  • Top of with a blazer or a leather jacket: Striped shirts look amazing paired up with a classic blazer and are great as office attire. I also love wearing mine with a nautical blazer like the one I wore below or a leather jacket (for a more edgier look).

  • Combine with bold colors: Add a pop of color to your striped shirt for an unexpected and fresh twist. The easiest way to do this is to add a bright accessory or shoes.

  • Dress it down with sneakers: For the weekend attire, add a pair of stylish sneakers to your striped shirt. I love wearing mine with bright sneakers or a classic white converse.

Charlie Chaplin: My Style Icon

By Elma B. I have always been a huge fan of the the Charlie Chaplin era, particularly the style from his iconic films  The Tramp (1915) and The Modern Times (1936). The legendary films were dominated by wide legged pants and bowler hats. I added my own modern twist to the look by including these wide legged overalls with polkadots; white sneakers, all the rage this season; and a simple white tank top. (Outfit details below...) My Style Inspiration: Charlie Chaplin While the classics, like the Charlie Chaplin films, remain a definite influence and an inspiration on my style choices, I always throw-in the everyday modern pieces.
