Debut: New Hair, New Beginnings

Image
By Elma Beganovich I have been wanting to change my hairstyle for a while, to create a new and fresh look for the summer. Thus, I went on a "hunt" and looked at hairstyles of various style icons. After much digging, I spotted a perfect summer cut: Brigitte Bardot's choucroute hairstyle (a sort of a beehive hairstyle with fringe-bangs and all of its teased, tousled glory).  To help my look come to life I found two amazing hairstylists at Arrojo NYC ( @arrojonyc ): Corrinn (cutter) and Eve (colorist). These two astonishingly-talented young stylists made my look come to life. Corrinn ( @corrinndoeshair )  did a pristine job with shaping my bangs and Eve ( @thehaircolorexpert )  colored the tips to make sure that my hair was one glistening color: chestnut brown. I would highly recommend these two ladies to anyone who lives in (or visits) New York City; the salon  is located in Tribeca.  For the fashionistas, I am wearing an H&M dress and...

Image
By Fatima N. Top 7 Winter Hairstyles In a styling slump? Here are top 7 winter hairstyle ideas, enough to get you through the week. 1) Side Swept  I've seen this so many times on the Fall/Winter 2014 runways. It's as simple as changing your hair part. This hairstyle looks great on square shaped faces. 2) Sixties This look is all about volume. I have three words. Bigger. Is. Better. Spray that hair down a little more then usual because of the winter wind. 3) Waves Soft, polished waves looks great under winter essentials like beanies. 4) Accessorize This is a no-brainer. Headbands, feathers, head scarves or simpler accessories like beanies can change your winter hairstyle. If you're A) out of hairspray, B) like/need to wear your hair up or C) go for the more low maintenance option, these casual do's are for you: 5) Buns It seems that the hairstylists from the runway got their inspiration from the people rather then the other way around. Many of the models were sporting th...

Zooey Deschanel's "New Girl" Makeup Tutorial

Image
By Catherine Santino Season 4 of “New Girl” recently premiered, and while I’m still binging on Season 3 on Netflix, I thought I would share my tutorial on the makeup that Zooey Deschanel often wears on the show. Her look varies at times, but I think I’ve found a way to recreate her go-to makeup pretty accurately, and with much more affordable products... Zoey Deschanel The main features of Zooey’s makeup that I regularly notice are: bronzy eyeshadow, full, fluttery lashes, defined eyes, rose blush on the apples of the cheeks, and coral/pink lips. All together it creates a simple, pretty makeup look that I think can be worn in any season and for various occasions. For the eye makeup, I blended two shimmery shades from my Maybelline “The Nudes” eyeshadow palette. One is a darker bronze color, the other a lighter gold color. I took the darker color and blended it underneath the lower lash line a bit, just to open up and define the eyes. I also added a bit of gel liner, slightly winged at ...

By Catherine Santino Now that it’s getting colder out, it’s time to change our skin care routine. Winter months means constantly looking for ways to keep your skin moisturized as the weather gets harsher. Contrary to what you might think, you don’t need to break the bank to maintain healthy, glowing skin this coming season. Here are my beauty tips...
