My Travel Diaries: What to Expect in Jamaica

Image
By Elma B. As I mentioned to you in my previous blog post , I want to share with you what to expect when in Jamaica. I know that summer is coming-up and that many of you are planning your ultimate summer getaway. So, if the Caribbean, and Jamaica are on your mind, here is what to expect... Before the storm on the white sand beaches in Negril Firstly, decide on the type of vacation you want, exploration, relaxation or both? Definitely, Negril, Jamaica is for relaxation on the beach and your occasional fun and refreshing water aerobics and other traditional water sports. There are options to explore its tropical rain forests and, for instance, see the Mayfield waterfalls, but do not expect to run into some world major monumental land marks (e.g., the Mayan Pyramids in Chetzenitza) or natural wonders.   Secondly, make sure to bring mosquito repellant as the mosquitos are bountiful in the evenings away from the breezy beach. Also, watch out for sun flies, which are worse than...

Denim Dress

Image
Amra B.  I have always been a huge fan of denim, but what has particularly caught my eye for spring 2015 are the denim dresses. Dressy yet laidback, denim dresses are super easy to wear and can be combined with almost anything in my wardrobe. They look great with blazers, sweaters, coats, and leather jackets (see below).  For this spring, I love pairing a denim dress with brown leather and suede ; the combination of these colors and textures is perfect for the warmer months coming up. I also like the idea of items you can take from day to night with just a quick change of accessories; denim dresses look amazing when paired up with strappy heels and a cocktail bag. For a more casual day look, I suggest pairing a denim dress with flat over the knee boots.  Wishing you an amazing day!  Outfit: Zara dress, jacket and hat, Chloe sandals, Louis Vuitton purse, necklace Forever 21

SS15 Fashion Trend: High Necklines

Image
By Elma B. Buttoned-up high-collared looks dominated the runways this spring season, and turtle neck dresses were all the hype on countless of catwalks, including Prada. While this look is atypical for the Spring season, high necklines are surprisingly manageable to wear during the warm weather. Take a look how I styled the high neckline look in Negril (Jamaica) below: I wore an organic green turtle neck dress, which has oval cuts on the side, from Topshop. I coupled this dress with strappy leather black sandals from Zara. For the accessories, I choose a petit straw hat and large-framed camel sunglasses from Urban Outfitters. I hope you enjoy these photos, I was inspired by the organic and vibrant greens of the Caribbean. Until next time, xoxo from Negril!

Sunsets in the Caribbean

Image
By Elma B. One of the most beautiful times on the islands of the Caribbean is watching the sun drop below the ocean's horizon. I wanted to share with you this spectacular moment. I suggest waiting on the beach with your cameras to capture this awe inspiring moment, like I did with countless of other island's visitors. As you can see below, I was on a lagoon, so I could capture Jamaica's greenery and dazzling emerald waters.   Below, I am wearing a black short jumpsuit, which is held together by lace details, and I paired this simple chic garment with a vintage floppy hat.  Hope you enjoy my photos and the beautiful scenery of Negril, Jamaica as much as I did while waiting for the sunset on these white sand beaches. Until next time, stay beautiful and fresh, xoxo fashionistas!

Navy Blue Dress

Image
By Amra B.  Maybe it is the fact that its sunny outside, or that the calendar date has officially struck “SPRING,” but I simply could not wait to show off some of the spring pieces I acquired recently. Yes, it may be a tad bit cold in NYC to wear a mini dresses, but for the sake of this shoot, and the sunshine outside, I decided to pretend that spring had finally arrived and parade my navy blue dress with no tights and all.  I paired up the blue dress with this fuzzy sweater that I found to be perfect for this transitioning weather; it is considerably warmer than just a blazer to layer over a shirt or a dress. The fun texture is a bonus and makes any outfit instantaneously more interesting.  I added my flat suede boot, and one of my favorite vintage purses to top off the look. **My tip on wearing miniskirts during the day is to always pair them up with flat shoes; short skirts/shorts with heels should be reserved exclusively for nighttime.  Happy spring, and wishing ...

SS15 Fashion Trend: Sporty Minimalism

Image
By Elma B. As I have written in my previous posts , minimalism has been dominating the runways and high street shops for the Spring and Summer fashion trends. What I enjoy even more than minimalism is the laid back sporty look. It is not only chic but comfortable and breezy, perfect for the warm spring and hot summer days ahead.  How to Style the Sporty Minimalist Look: Below, I mixed my wardrobe by combining a psychedelic '60s headband and thick white frame sunglasses with a sporty minimalist X-large t-shirt, which can also be worn as a dress. I steered on the light side for makeup by wearing translucent white powder (I swear by it from Makeup Forever), and pink matte lipstick. Finally, for the beachy wave look, I used Bumble and Bumble's surf spray to get that volume and thick texture. However, you decide to style the look, the goal is to make it look effortless.  There you have it fashionistas, how to style the sporty minimalist look. What is your favorite fa...

Spring in Paris

Image
By Amra B.  Photos Théophile Cormillot There is nothing like spring in Paris, and I made sure to take advantage of the beautiful weather to go sight see with my little cousin. Our day started near Louvre, where we met and grabbed a bite to eat in one of the nearby restaurants with the best view of the museum. My friend, Théophile , joined us and was kind enough to share some hidden gems only locals knew about.  Théophile, is an art and museum buff, and shares many of the most beautiful secret spots across France on his Instagram. We started by visiting Le Café Marly where I grabbed some of the most delicious salmon tartar, mashed potatoes, and freshly squeezed carrot and orange juice. This place is perfect to visit for an amazing lunch, cup of coffee, or a cocktail, and it offers some of the most beautiful views of Louvre.  Salmon tartar from  Le Café Marly Louvre Pyramid From there we continued to La Pyramide Inversée, and took a stroll around Jardin des Tuiler...
